A question about rules for peeking

In the original digital rulebook, page 8, it says "To do so, one must be either inside the room, next to a door to that room (no matter what condition it’s in), or next to a window into the room." In the printed rules that come with the game, the rule (page 9) says, "To do so, the monster must be either inside the room or in an adjacent zone that has a door connecting to that room." That seems to take away the ability to peek in through the cabin windows. Yet, in the tool shed expansion rules (also in the printed rule book), page 22, it says, "The tool shed does have windows, so the monsters can use their peek action to get a glimpse of what might be used against them. All other peek rules apply."

So, my question is, can we peek in the windows of the cabin as well, or can we only peek in the windows of the tool shed and the doors of the cabin?

Hello!

As a general rule of thumb, the older rulebook is out of date, having been published more than a year ago during the Kickstarter campaign. The most recent rulebook (the one you have in your hands) is the updated version.

The windows mention was probably removed due to redundancy: if you notice, from the outside, every room with a window also has a door to peek through. Since they have no other gameplay purposes, the windows were removed from the rule book.
However, we made sure to notice that it was possible to peek inside the Tool Shed, despite the fact that no Monster can ever enter it like they would in a normal room. (In this case, the windows are simply more flavor text.)

Thanks for the response. One thing I would like to mention about the door/window peeking. The four rooms of the cabin that you can peek into from outside do have a door outside, each to a different zone. However, the living room, bedroom, and kitchen have windows in 2 separate zones. This could allow you to peek through the windows into two rooms from some zones without moving, which is why I asked if peeking through windows is acceptable.

My apologies for not clarifying the intent of my question previously.

It's alright, there's no need for apologizing for a rules question! smile

We decided to remove the windows from the game, as they were weighting down the rules and were making some positions more useful than others (as you said, some places allowed you to peek twice as much). The now outdated rules book on the Kickstarter was from before this change.
